The Portuguese Society for Analytic Philosophy was created in September 2004 with the aim of promoting philosophy as practiced in the analytic tradition in Portugal, and contributing to the greater involvement of the Portuguese community working in the analytic tradition in the international philosophical community.
SPFA promotes an annual Graduate Workshop for Analytic Philosophy. The National Meeting for Analytic Philosophy takes place every three years. SPFA is member of the European Society for Analytic Philosophy.
The latest graduate workshop was OFA10. It took place between 27-28 May 2014, at the University of Lisbon, and its keynote speaker was Ned Block.
The latest national meeting took place between 10-12 September 2015, at the University of the Azores. The next ENFA meeting will be in 2017, probably in the New University of Lisbon.
SPFA supports the organization of the Latin Meeting for Analytic Philosophy. The latest Latin Meeting took place in Milan, dedicated to the topic Philosophical Puzzles.
SPFA also supports the Portuguese Congress of Philosophy, together with other academic societies and institutions. There is presently a call for abstracts for the second Congress, which will take place in the University of Oporto. Deadline 31 March 2016. More information here: www.spfil.pt.
SPFA is a member of the European Society for Analytic Philosophy. SPFA is also an institutional member of ALFAn, the Latin American Society for Analytic Philosophy.
